Launching of the first phase of the Islamic foundation learning book series --
The first phase of a new Islamic foundation learning book series for early childhood education has been launched, marking the introduction of the first publication of its kind in the Maldives.
The book series was officially launched by Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, who is overseeing the project.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the minister described the initiative as a major educational project developed with a strong focus on Islamic values. He said work on the project began in 2021 and will comprise 65 books designed for Baby Nursery, Nursery, LKG and UKG levels.
In addition to subjects included in the national curriculum, the books incorporate Islamic studies, ethics and moral education to provide children with a strong foundation from an early age.
Minister Dr Shaheem said the publications underwent several stages of review by experts from different fields to ensure their quality and suitability.
The first phase of the project saw the release of 16 Baby Nursery books, while the remaining 49 books have been completed and prepared for publication.
The minister also expressed appreciation to those who supported the initiative, including Sheikh Mohammed Latheef, Medina Investments CEO Ali Ahsan and IOCC co-founder Ali Ashwaq.
The books are intended for use by parents teaching children at home as well as by preschools offering foundation-stage education. The project also remains open to financial contributions from individuals and organisations wishing to support its completion.
