Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has announced that all land transport services are expected to be fully digitised by August as part of the Government's efforts to modernise public services.

Responding to questions in Parliament, minister Saeed said applications for transport-related services are already available online 24 hours a day through oneGov, while work is underway to introduce a more advanced digital platform that will further improve the quality and accessibility of the service. He said the initiative is expected to provide a long-term solution to many of the difficulties currently faced by the public.

The Minister said the Government is on track to complete the digitisation of all land transport services by the end of August, with development work on the new system already in progress.

Providing an update on the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) network, minister Saeed said ferry services are currently operating in 15 atolls using 35 high-speed ferries, while services have yet to begin in the remaining five atolls.

He added that the Government remains committed to completing the nationwide RTL network by the end of the year, in line with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's pledge to connect all inhabited islands.
