The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced an extension of temporary housing arrangements for 22 individuals who were displaced following a severe fire incident at the Green Building complex last week.

The incident initially prompted the evacuation of 29 residents from seven households across three buildings in the vicinity, comprising 15 men and 14 women. Following thorough safety assessments, five of the displaced residents have successfully returned to their dwellings, as confirmed by the NDMA via their official X account today.

In light of ongoing safety considerations, the authority has implemented a five-day extension to the temporary housing provision for the remaining 22 displaced individuals. This decision ensures continued support whilst further assessments are conducted.

The Green Building, a significant Governmental complex housing three key ministries – the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development; the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure; and the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy – sustained damage when the fire broke out during the early morning hours of December 12.
