Senior leaders of the People's National Congress (PNC) inspected polling stations on Saturday to monitor the party's nationwide internal election.

Among PNC leaders visiting polling centres were Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, PNC Chairman and Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla, and Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah. Several deputy leaders and other senior party officials also visited polling stations, while some, including Falah, cast their votes.

Voting is ongoing across 131 island constituencies, where members are electing representatives to fill more than 2,000 party positions. PNC stated that it is the party's largest internal election in terms of the number of positions being contested.

The election will determine the presidents, vice presidents and members of constituency steering committees nationwide. In constituencies without a PNC Member of Parliament, members are also electing constituency presidents, while constituencies represented by PNC MPs are voting for vice presidents.
