The Maldives Police Service has disposed a large quantity of alcohol seized in connection with various cases and kept under the custody of Kudahuvadhoo Police Station.

Police said 67 bottles of alcohol and 259 cans of beer were destroyed on July 16. The items had been seized in connection with various cases between April 4 and June 14 this year. They were destroyed under the supervision of a special committee established in accordance with regulations governing the disposal of alcohol and items seized in alcohol-related cases that are kept in police custody.

Police also said recent changes require only the quantity of seized intoxicating substances needed for legal investigations to be retained, with the remaining items to be destroyed as soon as possible.
