Yellow alert issued for Southern Maldives

The Maldives Meteorological Service(Met Office) has issued a Yellow Alert for areas stretching from Fuvahmulah City to Addu City in effect from 15:00 to 19:00 on December 20, 2024.
The alert warns of strong winds ranging from 25 to 30 mph, accompanied by very rough sea conditions. Mariners and residents in the affected region are advised to exercise caution during this period.
A White Alert is also in place for the northern and central regions, stretching from Haa Alifu Atoll to Kaafu Atoll. The alert is valid from 16:15 to 22:00 hrs. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph.
The MET Office has warned of potential disruptions due to the severe weather and urged people in the affected areas to take necessary precautions.
Citizens are urged to stay updated on further announcements from the Maldives Meteorological Service to ensure safety during these adverse conditions.
