Dominican Republic's Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives, Francisco Manuel Comprés Hernández, presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The President and Ambassador later discussed cooperation on environmental issues and the blue economy, noting the shared priorities of the Maldives and the Dominican Republic as Small Island Developing States (SIDS). 

The Ambassador was escorted to the ceremony in a traditional Haiykolhu procession accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band. The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations. Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and the Dominican Republic were established on 17 March 2010.
