The Government is aiming to complete the Israhvehinge Naadhee under development in Feydhoo, Addu City, by the end of this year in efforts to expand dedicated services for senior citizens across the Maldives.

The Ministry of Health, Family and Social Services said construction of the Feydhoo facility has been underway since the beginning of the year, with the building expected to be completed by the end of November. The ministry also aims to begin providing services at the centre once construction is completed.

The Feydhoo project forms part of the Government's plan to establish Israhvehinge Naadhee centres in three regions of the country. The ministry said the centres will provide safe accommodation alongside healthcare, physiotherapy, psychological support and other essential services for senior citizens under one roof. Facilities will also include consultation rooms, a library and multi-purpose halls to support physical, mental and social wellbeing.

The ministry added that work is also progressing on Israhvehinge Naadhee projects in other regions. Construction of a centre in Funadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, is set to begin, while the Thulusdhoo project has been awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with preparations underway to sign the agreement.
