The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) will hold a week-long carnival in Hulhumalé to celebrate the Maldives' 61st Independence Day. 

The carnival, organised in collaboration with Official Events will run daily from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m starting 24th July, and will feature activities for all age groups. HDC said the programme includes carnival games, a digital gaming arena, inflatable attractions, a horror house, live music and Boduberu performances.

A dedicated children's area and food kiosks offering a variety of refreshments will also be available throughout the event.

Independence Day falls on Sunday this year. HDC said the carnival is intended to celebrate the occasion while providing families and residents of Hulhumalé with an opportunity to come together in a festive atmosphere. The corporation added that it aims to continue organising similar events to mark national occasions with community participation in the future.
