Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has extended greetings to the people of the Maldives on the occasion of the country's 61st Independence Day.

In a message shared on X, the Vice President wished Maldivians a happy Independence Day and prayed for the country's continued peace, prosperity and enduring independence.

The Maldives celebrates Independence Day on 26 July to commemorate the country's independence from British protection in 1965, following the signing of an agreement between the governments of the Maldives and the United Kingdom.
