Judicial Service Commission appoints seven new judges for Magistrate Courts

The Judicial Service Commission has appointed judges for the Magistrate Courts of seven islands.
K. Maafushi Magistrate Court:
Uza Shifna Ahmed Sodiq has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Kaafu Atoll Maafushi Magistrate Court. She holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law (Honours) First Class from the National University of Maldives and a Master of Business Administration from Avid College. With experience in the judiciary since 2021, she previously served as the Legal Officer of K. Maafushi Magistrate Court.
L. Maavah Magistrate Court:
Uz Ahmed Shafee has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Lama Atoll Maavah Magistrate Court. Having over five years of experience in the judicial field, he holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law (Honours) and a Master of Laws from the National University of Maldives.
HA. Baarah Magistrate Court:
Uz Abdulla Jailam has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Haa Alif Atoll Baarah Magistrate Court. He holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from the National University of Maldives and has five years of experience in the judicial field. He previously served as the Administrative Officer of HA. Baarah Magistrate Court.
B. Kendhoo Magistrate Court:
Uz Jinan Abdulla has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Baa Atoll Kendhoo Magistrate Court. He holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law with Honours from the Islamic University of Maldives. With over six years of experience, he currently serves as a Public Prosecutor in the Prosecutor General's Office.
K. Kaashidhoo Magistrate Court:
Uz Ali Ismail has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo Magistrate Court. He holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from the National University of Maldives, along with a Master of Laws (Comparative Jurisprudence) and a Master of Judicial Science and Sharia Policy from the Islamic University of Maldives. With more than four years of experience in the judiciary, he previously served as a State Attorney at the Attorney General's Office.
B. Thulhaadhoo Magistrate Court:
Uz Ismail Mahir has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Baa Atoll Thulhaadhoo Magistrate Court. He holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from Villa College. Previously, he served as the Chief Magistrate of L. Maavah Magistrate Court from 2013 to 2023.
GDh. Gadhdhoo Magistrate Court:
Uz Ahmed Auf Abdul Samad has been appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Gaaf Dhaal Gadhdhoo Magistrate Court. He holds a Bachelor of Sharia and Law and a Master of Laws in Islamic Banking and Finance from the National University of Maldives. With three years of judicial experience, he previously worked as a Senior Content Officer at the President’s Office.
The Commission made the decision to appoint the judges on December 18, 2024.
