President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his Administration's commitment to fighting corruption whilst addressing claims of a letter allegedly sent by former Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Chairman Ahmed Zuhoor detailing corruption allegations against former HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed.

Speaking to reporters as he left the President's Office on Sunday afternoon, President Dr Muizzu stated that no such document had reached him and that if such a letter had been received, he would have certainly looked into the matter.

He emphasised his commitment to fighting corruption, stating, "I want to say that I will not back down from stopping acts of corruption or illegal activities. I have always directed relevant authorities to take action on such matters and continue to do so."

Addressing the ongoing investigation into HDC, the President said he had already referred the matter to police upon learning of it and expressed satisfaction with the progress.

"I will not tolerate illegal activities in any Government institution. People are appointed to serve the public with honesty and trustworthiness, not to steal or engage in corruption," he said.

President Dr Muizzu maintained that his Administration would remain steadfast in its commitment to prevent corruption, misconduct and irregular activities. He emphasised that this aligned with his campaign promises and firmly rejected claims that he had received and ignored any such letter.

The letter in question has been circulating on social media.
