Flood-affected families relocated back to their homes

Families displaced by the heavy rains on December 21 have returned to their homes after a brief stay in temporary shelters, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
In an update shared via social media, the NDMA reported that while heavy rainfall affected three islands on December 17, no residents were required to evacuate their homes during this incident. However, the downpour on December 21 caused flooding in parts of Male', necessitating temporary relocation measures.
A total of 32 individuals from eight households were moved to shelters in Male' following the deluge. To mitigate the impact of the flooding, 304 sandbags were deployed at 49 locations with support from MNDF, Male' City Council, and Public Works.
The NDMA also confirmed that damage assessments have been conducted for 30 houses identified as potentially affected by the flooding. This evaluation was carried out in collaboration with the Red Crescent.
