President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has launched the Maldives' 20-year National Development Plan, focused on sustainable housing, land, and infrastructure advancements. Minister Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed emphasised that public consultation will be integral to shaping the plan, with a target of finalising it within a year. To ensure its implementation, the Government will introduce a National Development Act and a constitutional amendment to support the plan’s long-term objectives.
