Former ministers Thoriq and Adam Shareef nominated as ambassadors

The Government has submitted nominations to the People's Majlis seeking parliamentary approval for the appointment of former cabinet ministers Thoriq Ibrahim and Adam Shareef Umar as ambassadors.
In letters sent to parliament by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Thoriq Ibrahim has been nominated for appointment as the Maldives’ Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, while Adam Shareef Umar has been nominated as Ambassador to Qatar.
Thoriq Ibrahim previously served in the Cabinet as Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, as well as Minister of Tourism and Environment. Adam Shareef Umar earlier served as Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works.
Both Thoriq and Adam Shareef resigned from their ministerial positions earlier as part of Cabinet changes introduced by the President. Following their resignations, they were appointed as Ambassadors-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
