Fifteen employees of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), previously dismissed following a criminal investigation into alleged corruption in land and apartment allocations under the Gedhoruviya scheme, have been reinstated.

HDC confirmed to local media that all dismissed employees, including some senior management figures, have been reinstated. The corporation noted that employees not directly implicated in the ongoing investigation will have their suspensions lifted soon, while others will remain suspended until the probe is complete.

Among those reinstated are Chief Financial Officer Abdulla Faid and Chief Business Officer and Head of Media Department Ahmed Yameen.

The investigation focuses on allegations of unlawful land allocation under the Binveriya scheme, unfair distribution of apartments in Vinares flats, and questionable land sales practices in Hulhumalé.

Former Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, who was suspended in connection with these allegations, resigned on December 21, 2024. In his place, former Construction Minister Mohamed Mauroof Jameel has been appointed as the new Managing Director of HDC.
