Maldives Integrated Health Information System (MIHIS) has officially launched its public portal.
The portal was inaugurated by Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, during a special ceremony held in Meerumaa on December 25.
The MIHIS portal represents a significant advancement in consolidating data from various systems used in the nation’s healthcare sector. It is designed to ensure that the public can securely and conveniently access critical health-related information.
From January 1, 2025, the portal will provide digital vaccination cards for infants born on or after this date. Parents will also have access to growth charts, developmental assessment tools, and records of vitamin A and other treatments administered to their children. Additionally, the system will offer notifications to help monitor growth rates and remind parents of upcoming vaccination dates.
Residents in atolls where the primary healthcare module is being implemented will also benefit from the portal. They can access their health records and receive notifications for follow-up appointments. For those enrolled in the primary healthcare programme, the portal will issue reminders for scheduled visits to healthcare providers.
Looking ahead, the system is set to expand further, incorporating public health data and results from medical diagnostics and treatments. This enhancement aims to provide a comprehensive view of public health services and improve healthcare outcomes across the Maldives.
The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health and representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Maldives, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this initiative.
