President restructures Cabinet

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has restructured his Cabinet and renamed several ministries on December 26, 2024. The changes, which were unveiled in a ceremony at the President's Office, come as part of efforts to enhance Government efficiency and speed up decision-making in 2025.

As part of the cabinet restructuring, President Dr Muizzu also introduced significant structural changes within the Government. The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has been dissolved, with its functions now redistributed between the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure.
Following the ceremony, the President convened with the newly appointed Ministers to discuss his vision for 2025. He emphasised that the coming year would prioritise enhancing Government efficiency and expediting decision-making processes.
The Ministers took the oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Justice, Uz Ali Rasheed Hussain, before signing the official documents confirming their appointments.
The President further underscored the importance of ensuring that the restructuring is carried out in a manner that minimises disruption for public sector employees.
