The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has announced the resumption of domain services following a temporary suspension due to domain-related issues. 

The update was shared during a press conference to officially hand over the first certificate under the newly-introduced domain service.

During the event, Minister Ameen introduced the newly designed domain certificate, which replaces the previous yellow slips. He emphasised that the updated certificate is designed to prevent duplication within the system, thereby enhancing security for users. The improved registration process is expected to provide stronger safeguards for those holding domain certificates.

Although the issuance of entirely new domains is yet to commence, the minister clarified that current efforts focus on preserving and legalising existing domains. To ensure transparency, domain services for the public will be made available through an open bidding system.

The first individual to receive the new domain certification expressed pride in the initiative, highlighting the importance of making such services accessible to all citizens.

The replacement process for domains began on 17 November, with over 600 applications submitted so far.
