President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his condolences following the passing of India’s former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh.

President Dr Muizzu honoured Dr Singh’s contributions to India and his role in strengthening Maldives-India relations, on his official X account. He recalled Dr Singh’s historic visit to the Maldives in November 2011, describing it as a pivotal moment in enhancing economic and social development in the Maldives.

In his post, the President highlighted Dr Singh’s steadfast commitment to progress and his instrumental leadership in advancing the ‘Look East Policy,’ which significantly contributed to fostering development and regional cooperation in South Asia.

President Dr Muizzu concluded his message with heartfelt sympathies to Dr Singh's family and the people of India during this time of profound loss.
