Male' City Council has announced that Majeedhee Magu, one of the capital's major thoroughfares, will be temporarily closed for renovations, resulting in significant changes to traffic flow in the area.
As part of a initiative to address damaged roads across the city, the council is focusing on repairing areas that are particularly vulnerable to rainfall.
Recent improvements to similar zones in Haveeree Hingun demonstrate the council's commitment to enhancing road conditions citywide.
The current phase of the project involves repairs to a section of Majeedhee Magu in front of Male’ Grand, a key location in the city. Work on this block is set to begin on December 28, 2024 and will continue until January 4, 2025.
To minimise disruption, the council has announced alternate routes for motorists. Traffic will be redirected through Majeedhee Magu, Chaandhanee Magu and Rahdhebai Magu.
A detailed chart outlining the new traffic flow has also been released to assist commuters in navigating the changes effectively.

The council acknowledges the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and assures the public that the repairs aim to provide long-term benefits by improving road safety and resilience against adverse weather.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance and allow for potential delays during the renovation period.
