The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned actions by Israeli forces at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, where parts of the facility were burned, and patients and staff were forcibly evacuated.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterised the incident as a breach of international humanitarian and human rights laws. The ministry emphasised that actions targeting critical healthcare facilities represent a serious violation under international treaties and highlighted the inhumanity of such measures against the Palestinian people.
The Maldives urged the international community, including the United Nations, to take swift action to protect the Palestinian population and hold those responsible for such violations accountable. The call emphasised the necessity of ending violence in Gaza and ensuring the safety of civilians.
Additionally, the Maldivian Government reaffirmed its position on addressing the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis inflicted by Israel on Palestine. It stressed that a lasting and just peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
