The Maldives Police Service has reported that 16 individuals have provided information through the portal established to support the investigation into the Gedhoruveriya and Binveriya schemes.
The platform was launched to gather evidence and insights about alleged irregularities in the allocation of land under the program.
Among the submissions received, four included supporting documents that are now under review. The police have assured that personal information can be submitted anonymously, though individuals may also choose to share contact details for potential follow-up during the investigation.
The Binveriya scheme has come under scrutiny following allegations of undeserved land allocations. The controversy has already led to significant changes, including the resignation of Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed from his role as Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). His decision to step down coincided with growing criticism of the program’s management.
To address the issue and restore public confidence, former Construction Minister Mohamed Mauroof Jameel has been appointed to lead HDC.
As the investigation continues, authorities are encouraging further public cooperation to ensure a thorough examination of the allegations.
