President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially designated Dhivehi language names for several Government ministries, following the recent Cabinet reshuffle on 26 December 2024.

The decision was made under the authority granted to the President by Article 116(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

The new names were announced in Directive No. 26/2024, issued by the President's Office on Sunday.

Under the directive, the Ministry of Finance and Planning is now officially named 'Maaleekankamaai Tharaggeege Reyvuntherikamaa Behey Vuzaaraa', while the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has been renamed 'Imaaraaiykurumaai, Gedhoruverikamaai Binaaraa Behey Vuzaaraa'.
