A chain-reaction crash involving three motorcycles occurred on the Sinamalé Bridge highway shortly after midnight. The incident, reported to police at 12 a.m., took place in the fast lane of the Malé-bound section heading to Hulhumalé.

According to the police, the collision occurred when one motorcycle attempted to overtake, striking two other motorcycles. A third motorcycle then crashed into the initial collision.

Of the five people injured in the accident, four were treated at Hulhumalé Hospital and released the same night. The fifth person is receiving care at Tree Top Hospital, where officials confirm their condition is not serious.

Police have towed the motorcycle that was reportedly driven in violation of traffic regulations, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
