President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the National Teacher Training Programme, aimed at addressing the Maldives' shortage of qualified teachers. Over 135 secondary school graduates are enrolled this year, with training focusing on subjects where teacher shortages are most critical. The programme is part of the government's broader effort to develop a sustainable, locally trained teaching workforce and fulfill the need for over 2,000 new teachers, particularly in primary education.
