The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts and Maldives Pension Administrative Office have been actively conducting digital awareness sessions for senior citizens throughout the year, focusing on enhancing their well-being and fostering stronger community ties.
Held in July, August, October, and November, these sessions explored critical topics such as the significance of building and maintaining family relationships, the benefits of participating in social activities, and the importance of effective communication. Participants also engaged in discussions on coping with challenging thoughts and emotional situations.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Social and Family Development, reflecting a joint effort to address the holistic needs of the elderly population.
In a significant step towards senior citizen welfare, the Ministry inaugurated a dedicated social centre in Malé on 17 February 2024. Named the ‘Israhvehinge Naadhee’, the centre aims to provide a space for social engagement, support, and activities tailored to the needs of older adults.
