The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is clearing and cleaning the site of the tin building following its destruction in the massive fire, with demolition nearing completion.

The fire, which occurred on 12 December, devastated the tin building, which housed the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development and the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure.

It also engulfed the nearby 'Green Building,' under the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, and spread to the Vital Registration Section of Malé City Council. Critical documents, including records related to buildings, homes, and resident registrations, were lost in the blaze.

Speaking to MMTV, an official said that international experts had inspected the site before the demolition and that the team had gathered evidence, captured photographs, and collected materials needed for the investigation.
