The High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, G. Balasubramanian, formally presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday.

The High Commissioner received a traditional welcome as he was escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a cultural procession known as ‘Haiykolhu,’ accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

During the meeting that followed, the High Commissioner conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar.

President Dr Muizzu welcomed the High Commissioner and expressed gratitude for India’s continued contributions to the Maldives' development efforts.

Building on this, their discussions focused on enhancing development cooperation, advancing ongoing Indian government-led projects in the Maldives, increasing investments across key sectors, and fostering stronger people-to-people ties.

Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining a robust partnership and exploring new avenues for collaboration and mutual growth.
