Maldives records 32,349 tourist arrivals in the first five days of this year

Over 30,000 tourists visited the Maldives in the first five days of this year. 

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives has welcomed 32,349 tourists in the first five days of this year, this represents a 17.4 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Daily arrivals now average 6,470 visitors, with Russia emerging as the largest source market. The top five countries contributing to tourist arrivals are:

  • Russia: 6,485 tourists
  • Italy: 5,285 tourists
  • United Kingdom: 2,175 tourists
  • Germany: 2,002 tourists
  • India: 1,127 tourists

Accommodation statistics show that 70 per cent of visitors chose resorts, while guesthouses accounted for 23.3 per cent of stays. The breakdown includes:

  • Resorts: 22,849 tourists
  • Guesthouses: 7,615 tourists
  • Hotels: 914 tourists
  • Safaris: 971 tourists

Following a record-breaking year in 2024 with two million arrivals, the Government aims to attract 2.2 million tourists this year. To achieve this target, various initiatives are in place to further promote the Maldives as a top-tier travel destination.
