President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Government will complete its investigation into the 4,000 flats allocation and release the final list of beneficiaries before Ramadan 1446.

The statement came during a media briefing in GA. Dhevvadhoo as part of his Huvadhoo Atoll tour today.

Addressing concerns about the housing program, President Dr Muizzu affirmed that existing flat allocations would remain intact, except in cases of proven fraud. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will oversee the verification process.

The Government plans to launch contractor bidding this month for new housing projects across multiple atolls. A regional approach is expected to reduce costs, with some projects utilizing contractor financing.

Furthermore, the Administration has introduced the Hiyaavehi financing scheme, offering Islamic financing options at competitive rates.

The President expressed confidence that these initiatives, scheduled for completion in 2025 and 2026, will address the nation's housing shortage, fulfilling a key campaign pledge. The program remains a priority in this year's budget.
