President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé following visits to 9 islands in Huvadhu Atoll, part of his ongoing efforts to engage with local communities and address development challenges across the Maldives.
During the visit, the President met with local council members and Women’s Development Committees from the islands. These meetings allowed him to hear residents’ concerns firsthand and outline sustainable solutions for their communities. He also updated the public on the Government’s initiatives to promote development and address pressing issues in the region.
A major highlight of his addresses was the announcement that this year’s state budget prioritises tackling the nation’s housing crisis. The President described the Hiyaavehi financing programme as a pivotal initiative aimed at providing citizens with better housing opportunities, urging residents to take advantage of this scheme.
The visit also focused on enhancing the agriculture sector, with the President sharing plans to achieve self-sufficiency in food production. Efforts are underway to attract investment and support this goal, reflecting the Government’s dedication to strengthening the nation’s economy and overcoming its challenges.
The trip forms part of the President’s commitment to visiting all islands and engaging with councils across the country. He was joined by a high-level delegation of Government officials throughout the visit.
