A man who fell into the sea from a safari near Alifu Dhaalu Mirihi Island Resort has been found dead.

His body was recovered at a depth of 69 meters by divers from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard Second Squadron during a search operation. The recovery took place at 3:35 p.m. on January 10, 2025, after which the body was handed over to authorities for further procedures.

The victim, identified as Ali Arushad, 35, from Noonu Holhudhoo, Sea Weed, had gone missing after falling from the deck of the "North07" safari the previous night. CCTV footage from the vessel confirmed the incident, prompting an immediate search effort involving the MNDF and Maldives Police Service.

The circumstances leading to his fall remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
