The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a Yellow Alert for regions stretching from Shaviyani Atoll to Thaa Atoll, in effect from 09:00 to 13:00 hours on January 11, 2025.

The forecast predicts torrential rain and thunderstorms, which could lead to challenging conditions for residents and mariners in the affected areas.

In addition to the Yellow Alert, a White Alert has been issued for areas from Haa Alifu Atoll to Laamu Atoll. This alert is valid from 08:45 to 14:00 hours on the same day.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across the region, potentially causing disruptions.

The MET Office has advised residents in the affected areas to exercise caution and stay updated on further announcements. Mariners are particularly urged to be vigilant due to the adverse weather conditions and potential rough seas.
