The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has announced that the Women’s Edition of the Maldives Travel Conference 2025 will take place in Addu City on January 25, 2025.
The event, to be held at Equator Village in Gan, will focus on empowering women in the tourism sector.
The conference will feature discussions led by female keynote speakers and panelists, addressing key topics such as expanding opportunities for women in Addu City, overcoming societal barriers faced by working women, and dispelling misconceptions that tourism jobs are limited to resorts.
Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Visit Maldives, and Addu City Council, the conference aims to tackle challenges and explore opportunities for women in the industry. Supporting organisations include Women in Management Maldives, Women on Boards, and the Women Entrepreneurs Association.
As part of the programme, the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) will conduct a free financial literacy training session designed specifically for women. Registration for the session is open until January 20, 2025 via MATATO’s website.
Following the Addu City event, additional conferences are planned for May in Thoddoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll, and August in Malé.
