The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) reported that a total of 18,200 tonnes of water was drained from Malé City following heavy rains that began late Friday evening and intensified through Saturday morning.

Pumps were deployed at key locations to manage the flooding, including four in the West Park area, three near IGMH, three at the Maafannu ferry terminal, and one each at Salman Mosque, Bodu Valhu, Kudakudhinge Bageechaa, Bihuge, and the MPL area.

Alongside drainage efforts, the MNDF provided assistance to 104 households affected by the flooding.

This incident comes just a week after Malé experienced record rainfall of 161.9 mm on January 3, which also caused widespread flooding.
