Maldives records over 69,500 tourist arrivals in first 11 days of 2025

As of January 11, 2025, the Maldives has welcomed over 69,500 tourists, marking a 10 per cent increase in arrivals compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest figures from Ministry of Tourism, 69,553 tourists have visited the island nation within the first 11 days of the year, surpassing last year's figure of 63,156 for the same period.
January 11 saw the highest number of arrivals, with 8,090 tourists arriving on that day alone. Since the beginning of the year, the Maldives has consistently recorded more than 5,000 tourist arrivals per day.
Russia has emerged as the leading source market for visitors, with 11,367 Russians making their way to the Maldives so far. Italy follows with 8,499 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom (5,537), Germany (4,369), and India (3,241).
The Maldives Government has set an ambitious target of attracting 2.2 million tourists in 2025, building on last year’s record-breaking 2 million visitors. The steady rise in tourist numbers suggests that the Maldives continues to be a top destination for international travellers.
