President Dr Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Estonia on Monday, marking the first-ever visit by a Maldivian head of state to the nation. Estonian President Dr Alar Karis welcomed President Dr Muizzu and his delegation at a formal ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Kadriorg.

The landmark visit seeks to strengthen cooperation in digital technology, cybersecurity, e-governance and environmental protection between the two nations. Estonia's globally acclaimed digital infrastructure expertise is expected to strengthen the Maldives' ongoing digital transformation efforts.

The Estonian military performed both national anthems during the welcome ceremony, after which the leaders inspected the Guard of Honour. The event also featured an exchange of diplomatic introductions and the signing of the Palace's Visitor's Book by President Dr Muizzu.

Accompanied by key figures from the Maldives' technology sector, President Dr Muizzu's delegation reflects the visit's emphasis on technological partnership. The discussions are expected to encompass broader collaboration in areas such as climate action and education.
