The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) of the Maldives recently highlighted an array of lucrative investment opportunities during an information forum hosted for a high-level delegation from Azerbaijan.

The forum, designed to deepen bilateral economic relations, showcased potential ventures across key sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, construction, tourism, and energy.

Azerbaijan was represented by officials from Azerbaijan Export and İnvestment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), alongside delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their participation reflected the shared commitment of both nations to fostering robust partnerships and exploring avenues for mutual benefit.

This forum followed on from discussions initiated during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Baku in November 2024 for the COP29 summit. The event aimed to build on the progress made during those talks, further cementing ties between the Maldives and Azerbaijan while identifying new areas for collaboration.

Presentations from Maldivian Ministries and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) took centre stage at the event. These thematic sessions focused on investment opportunities in renewable energy, housing, infrastructure, sustainable tourism, and logistics. Azerbaijani delegates were provided with valuable insights into the Maldives’ business environment, highlighting its strategic importance as a regional partner for economic growth.

Through these discussions, the Maldives positioned itself as a competitive and forward-thinking investment destination, offering Azerbaijani investors significant opportunities for collaboration in sectors critical to both nations’ development goals.
