Estonia’s Health Minister pays courtesy call on President

Estonia’s Minister of Health, Riina Sikkut, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during his official visit to Estonia.

The meeting centred on Estonia’s advancements in digital healthcare and explored how these innovations could be applied to enhance the healthcare system in the Maldives.

During their discussion, Minister Sikkut provided insights into how Estonia has successfully digitalised its healthcare system, achieving improved efficiency, accessibility, and quality of care for its citizens. She also highlighted the challenges faced during the process and shared the innovative solutions implemented to overcome them.

President Dr Muizzu conveyed a keen interest in drawing from Estonia's advanced healthcare experience to strengthen the Maldives' own system. He highlighted the need to deliver uniform, high-quality healthcare throughout the island nation and discussed how digital innovations could help overcome challenges in reaching remote communities.

The discussion reaffirmed a mutual dedication to enhancing Maldives-Estonia cooperation in the healthcare sector. Both parties recognised the opportunities for collaboration, focusing on tailoring Estonia’s proven approaches to suit the Maldives, with the goal of driving innovation and advancing healthcare services.
