The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has announced an innovative virtual copyright training program targeting Maldives' creative economy, particularly the film industry.

The initiative is a collaboration between Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MOEDT), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The 45 to 50 minute episodes will feature two local creators engaging with Intellectual Property (IP) experts, discussing WIPO publications on audiovisual rights. Content will focus on practical challenges faced by value creators across pre-production to production, including photographers, graphic designers, writers, and stylists.

The program aims to bridge the IP knowledge gap through real-world applications and immediate clarification of complex issues. Episodes will be broadcast to stakeholders across the region and globally through WIPO's platforms, with additional on-demand video snippets.

Interested film industry professionals can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by January 23, 2025, to [email protected]. Submissions must include contact details, entity information, and relevant creative project experience.

The initiative is part of WIPO's broader effort to promote grassroots innovation and practical IP knowledge application.
