President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has arrived in Thakandhoo island of North Thiladhunmathi Atoll (Haa Alifu Atoll) as part of his ongoing tour of the region.

Upon arrival, the President received a warm welcome from residents who had gathered at the harbour area to greet him. Thakandhoo marks the fifth island of his tour through North Thiladhunmathi Atoll and his first destination of the day.

Whilst in Thakandhoo, the President is scheduled to meet with the Island Council, Women's Development Committee (WDC), heads of government institutions and local residents. The visit will include a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Council Secretariat building, as well as the inauguration of a police station.

The President's three-day tour of Haa Alifu Atoll, which commenced on Tuesday, encompasses visits to ten islands. This journey is part of his comprehensive programme to visit all atolls, cities and islands across the Maldives, with a focus on engaging with local councils and residents.

Several Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials are accompanying the President throughout the tour. He is expected to return to Male' on Thursday.
