During a meeting at Madhrasathul Shaheed Ali Thakurufaanu, the Thakandhoo Island Council presented urgent development priorities to President Dr Muizzu, who met with council members, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and institutional heads.
The Council emphasised immediate needs for protecting historical sites and upgrading water and sewerage infrastructure, whilst highlighting pressing concerns about coastal erosion and the completion of the harbour project to resolve transportation challenges.
The discussions expanded to include housing requirements and a proposal for additional revenue generation through extended island jurisdiction.
Government representatives responded by providing comprehensive updates on ongoing development projects, assuring continued support for the identified priorities.
The newly launched infrastructure initiatives align with the Administration's broader development approach for Thakandhoo Island in North Thiladhunmathi Atoll, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing both infrastructure and public services for the island community.
