The Ihavandhoo Island Council, alongside the Women's Development Committee (WDC) and institutional heads, outlined urgent development priorities during a meeting held at Ihavandhoo School this evening.
Education and healthcare emerged as primary concerns, with the Council highlighting challenges in transitioning to single-session schooling and emphasising the necessity for a hospital to enhance the island's medical services. The Council also proposed incorporating Huvahandhoo into Ihavandhoo's administrative jurisdiction.
Infrastructure gaps in newly developed areas were brought to attention, with residents facing prolonged delays in accessing essential utilities including water, electricity, and sewerage services. The Council stressed the importance of establishing law enforcement presence through a police station and advocated for a multipurpose indoor sports complex to serve the community.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu acknowledged the concerns raised and reiterated his Administration's commitment to addressing these priorities while Government representatives, including various Ministers, provided status updates on ongoing development initiatives.
