The Ihavandhoo Fisheries Complex, currently under construction in HA. Ihavandhoo, is set to create 150 jobs and significantly advance the fishing industry.

The project, which will begin in May this year, is expected to be completed within 18 months and will feature a 1,000-tonne cold storage facility, a 50-tonne brine freezing capacity, and a jetty with three fish landing points to streamline fish unloading operations.

The Fisheries Complex, costing MVR 474 million, is a key initiative aimed at fostering the prosperity and development of the Maldivian fishing sector. During a meeting with Ihavandhoo residents on Wednesday, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted the importance of the project for the island, which is known for its strong fishing community. He emphasised that the complex would play a vital role in the future of the industry.

In addition to the Fisheries Complex, President Dr Muizzu addressed other developmental projects on the island, including the construction of 200 housing units to alleviate the housing shortage. He reiterated his Administration's commitment to addressing public needs through structured state initiatives.

The Ihavandhoo Fisheries Complex stands as a cornerstone project for the island's economic growth and the broader development of the Maldives' fishing industry.
