A substantial quantity of liquor seized in several cases was disposed by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in Kaafu Dhoonidhoo on January 29, 2025.

The alcohol, confiscated in operations involving the Drug Enforcement Unit, Tourist Police, and Hulhumalé Police Station, was disposed of in line with the established rules of procedure for the destruction of liquor and liquor cases.

The items destroyed included 2,185 branded bottles, 213 PET bottles, and 2,001 cans of beer. In addition, 81 other items, such as bags, newspapers, and paper boxes, were also destroyed during the operation.

The destruction process was carried out under the supervision of a committee formed to oversee such operations, as part of the police's ongoing efforts to curb illegal alcohol trafficking and enforce the country’s laws on alcohol possession and distribution.
