The Addu Hankede Bridge, a 1.4-kilometre, four-lane structure connecting Hitadhoo to Maradhoo, will officially open for public transport this Saturday, the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure has announced. Built under the Indian Line of Credit at a cost of MVR 1.19 billion, the project also includes road development in Addu City and was handed over to the Maldivian Government in August 2024. The bridge, a key part of the Hankede Integrated Tourism Development Project, is expected to enhance connectivity, ease traffic flow, and support tourism growth in the region.
