President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to decentralisation by enhancing council secretariats, improving salaries, and engaging with local councils. He announced infrastructure projects, including 55 new council buildings and 50 more funded by Chinese grants, while also confirming salary adjustments for council employees. Additionally, he highlighted forthcoming legislative changes to formalise Women’s Development Committees' allowances into salaries, granting them access to benefits such as Ramadan allowances and maternity leave.
