President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to establish a national heritage database this year to consolidate and preserve Maldivian cultural heritage using advanced technology. The initiative, led by the Dhivehi National Heritage Research Centre in collaboration with foreign universities, will include 3D documentation of historical sites and artefacts. Alongside this, the Government will introduce a standardised framework for defining Maldivian culture, launch a national project to protect Boduthakurufaanu-era artifacts, and develop a state-of-the-art interactive museum.
