In his Presidential Address, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. He highlighted the MVR 100 million Lui Loan scheme, noting that 60 loans have already been disbursed to women entrepreneurs, with 25 per cent reserved for women with disabilities. The President also announced the establishment of three domestic violence shelters, with the first shelter to be completed within a year. Additionally, he stated that Women’s Development Committee (WDC) employees’ allowances will be converted into formal salaries to enhance women’s leadership and participation.
